Leaders Debate
"Debate is the art of thinking on your feet." - Winston Churchill

Why learn debate?
Debate is a formal discussion on a particular topic in which people express their opinions and try to persuade others to agree with them. There are many different formats of debate, but they all share the same basic goal: to help people understand and appreciate different perspectives on a given issue.
Debate is an important skill to learn for a number of reasons. First, it can help you develop your critical thinking skills. When you debate, you are forced to carefully consider all sides of an issue and to come up with strong arguments to support your own position. This process can help you to become a more critical thinker in all areas of your life.
Second, debate can help you improve your communication skills. When you debate, you are required to clearly and concisely articulate your ideas. You must also be able to listen to and respond to the arguments of others. These are all important communication skills that can be used in a variety of settings, both personal and professional.
Third, debate can help you build confidence. When you debate, you are putting yourself out there and taking a risk. If you are successful, it can be a very rewarding experience. This can help you to build your confidence and to feel more comfortable speaking up in other situations.
There is a growing body of research that shows the benefits of debate. For example, a study by the National Center for Education Statistics found that students who participate in debate are more likely to graduate from high school and to attend college. They are also more likely to be involved in extracurricular activities and to have higher grades.
In addition, debate can be a valuable asset on college applications. Many colleges and universities look for students who are active in debate, as it is seen as a sign of critical thinking skills, communication skills, and confidence.
Finally, debate is a skill that will become increasingly important in the future. In a world where information is constantly changing, it is more important than ever to be able to think critically and to communicate effectively. Debate can help you to develop these skills, and it can give you a competitive edge in the job market.
